The Kings said good riddance to a terrible 2010 (except for Tyreke winning Rookie of the Year), with this great buzzer beater. In the words of Shaquille O'neal: "One lucky shot, deserves another." Maybe it will be the start to a better 2011.

It was a great shot, but Sacramento fans around the web are acting like the team has turned around with this single, unlikely shot. The team is terrible and they broke down on the last Memphis possession and let them take the lead. They find a way to lose in every fourth quarter.
ReplyDeleteSacramento fans are just grasping at whatever positive they can. I don't think any fans of the Kings have false hope that this shot saved their season, it's just nice to see something finally go their in the 4th quarter. Especially after Mayo hit the jumper, and all the Kings fans were thinking, "there's another last second loss".
ReplyDeleteWhy grasp at positive with this team? The Maloofs and Petrie need to understand we won't put up with this garbage team they have assembled. They have been in rebuilding mode since the 2005 season and now they're using the CBA as an excuse to continue milking money out of the franchise. The team is a product and they would rather pad their pockets than reinvest in the company and put out a better product. Screw them. They keep trying to assemble this hodge podge mix of used up talent or players with "upside" and I'm sick of it. Spend some money and get at least one superstar... and Tyreke isn't a superstar yet. He may never be with his glass ankles.
ReplyDeleteI'll look at the positive once I see the ownership is interested in putting out a product worth supporting.
I'm not sure they are 'milking it" they had 6k fans in the stands at one game this season. I can't imagine they are making much if any profit this year.
ReplyDeleteI'm also not sure they aren't willing to pay a superstar, the problem is no superstar wants to come to Sacramento and fall into the oblivion of obscurity, there aren't a lot of endorsements to be made out here and it's too small of a market to get TV coverage. Even when the Kings were good they weren't on national TV as often as many other teams. Those are the trials of a small market team.
Regardless, it was still a great shot last night, as a fan of both the Kings and Basketball, I thought it was great.
Jeff we will have to agree to disagree about this one. We are experiencing the repercussions of years of reluctance to reinvest in the team. There are 6k fans because the Maloofs chose to put out a terrible product. Small market teams seem to do just fine when they have talent. You think San Antonio is an amazing place to live? The Spurs are almost in the exact same size market as the Kings in a city that has little to offer besides the River Walk. They manage to remain one of the elite teams in the league and they spend money on big names.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I will give the Kings is they keep getting screwed in the lottery.
but, yeah, great lucky shot
