Gerard Butler on SNL as The Beast

So far this season of SNL has really been lackluster, but I'd have to say this is one of my favorite skits in years. It's Gerard Butler (or as I tell Mrs. Awesome, "Hunky Gerard Butler") as the beast. Enjoy.

Krups Beertender B95

So I recently became the proud owner of a Krups BeerTender B95I would have been just as happy with the Krups BeerTender B90but I got it so cheap I couldn't pass it up, and it has made such an improvement to my bar.

The Differences are the B95 has:
  • a digital screen (as opposed to a light up screen) to display temperature and volume of beer remaining
  • A calendar countdown, which tells you how long you've had the beer in the BeerTender (it lasts for 30 days)
There were a couple things I needed to look into before making this life altering purchase. Can I use another beer with the BeerTender? Or is it only Heineken? How often do you replace the tubes? Where do you get the tubes? Is it worth the cost? How many beers are in the 5L Keg?

So now the answers:
  • Unfortunately, with the BeerTender after all my research, you can really only use the Heineken or Heineken Light 5L Draught Kegs. Each keg has an internal CO2 compressor, that's why you cannot use anything but the Heineken Draught Kegs. I did also find in some markets they are Selling Newcastle Draught Kegs, but those markets are limited to Los Angeles, Chicago, and Minnesota.

  • The tube leading from the keg to the tap needs to be replaced after every keg. I guess this could be extended, depending on how long it take you to dink the keg, but due to the nature of beer, it can get moldy if it is attached for too long. I replace it after every new keg. I find the best place to get the cheap Beertender tubes is on Amazonthey are $11.99 for 10 of them, I suggest ordering a couple packages of 10 for future use.

  • The 5L Keg holds about 14 to 15 beers.
Now it comes down to whether it is ultimately worth the cost. To me it is, because I like to come home and just have the taste of fresh cold beer, and the Heineken keg taste like a real keg beer, and I can have just 1/4 of ice cold fresh beer. I am really impressed with the BeerTender and think it is a pretty awesome investment, and a must for any bar and a great piece for entertaining...you are never without beer for the unexpected company.

Ron Artest would Drink Hennessy at Halftime?

So I don't mean for this to turn in to a Ron Artest blog, BUT this is shocking...how can you play hoop after drinking? I've tried, the result: Twisted ankle.

Ron Artest drank cognac during halftime of Chicago Bulls games, the Lakers forward tells the Sporting News. According to Artest, "I used to drink Hennessy ... at halftime. I (kept it) in my locker. I'd just walk to the liquor store (near the stadium) and get it."

There are many more revelations in the interview, which appears in full in the magazine's December 7 issue. He defends his role in the infamous Malice at the Palace, a massive fight in which he brawled with fans and was suspended for the rest of the 2004-2005 season.

"It wasn't my fault. ... I don't see anything I could have done different. The only thing I could have done was have God pause time so I could have said, 'Oh, look, you're about to run in some stands, so stop.'"

Artest has seen some interesting moments as of late. In October, he released his song "Afghan Women," complete with video. He recently appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" nearly naked, and there were reports that he was caught up in a welfare fraud investigation.

Check out the December 7 Sporting News for more info.

Ron Artest on Jimmy Kimmel

How could anyone not like Ron Ron? He's hilarious...I've met him a couple times and he's always a nice dude.

I Want to go to There...

I've been listening to Kings of Leon (which ironically enough is the ticker to our ETF for coal: KOL). They are badass, they sound great live too, which is pretty rare. They have a little indie rock mixed with some southern type folk music...it's an interesting mix, but I like it.

The Good ole Shoe Toss

This is pretty funny. Ron Artest should have thrown it into the 5th or 6th row and made him go get it. :)

Brandon Jennings: WOW!

This guy is insanely talented...tonight he scored 55 points as a rookie. I think one of my favorite things about him is his humility. He had a different path to the NBA, by having to play in Europe last year.

He played in Europe because he didn't have the scores to make it to college, and since the NBA requires you be 19 and 1 year removed from high school it was his best option. He played for Lomaticca Roma for $1.65 million.

He then entered the NBA Draft last June. He was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 10th pick. Since then he has been unstoppable...20 points and 5 assists average, and he went for 55 tonight, in 3 quarters (he didn't score in the first quarter) and had 29 in the 3rd quarter. Insane.

I love his attitude...instead of buying a Bentley, Ferrari, or Lamborghini, he bought a Ford Edge...Yep the $26k Ford Edge, and a condo in the blue collar area of Milwaukee. This is a guy who came into the draft with at least $3.65 million already ($2 million in sponsorships), and he signed a contract worth $4.5 million over 2 years, and bought a typical car...good for him.

I think a lot of people (Nicholas Cage and Antoine Walker) should take notes from this guy. I like where his heads at, and I'm rooting for him.

Going Green

The hype with going green is hilarious, today Mrs. Awesome and I were at the mall and I bought a couple pairs of shoes at Aldo. Per usual, the inside of the box was packed with enough paper and cardboard to make my shoes feel like they were a bunch of illegals trying to get into the U.S.

When we made the purchase he said, "In an effort to go green, we no longer provide bags, but we have made the boxes so you can carry them." I asked him why they didn't reduce the amount of packaging inside the boxes, as a better effort to go green. No response.

I find humor in these funny little ironies in life.

I actually think the new way is easier to carry, it looks like this:

Do You Have Paraskevidekatriaphobia?

Paraskevidekatriaphobia is fear of Friday the 13th, and sufferers of said phobia typically believe the day to be unlucky, cursed, other an otherwise bad omen for a variety of reasons. The one common element in all sufferers, is (like most phobias) that their Paraskevidekatriaphobia is not grounded in any kind of logical reasoning. Most are likely falling prey to the deeply embedded culutural belief that Friday the 13th (and the number 13, in general) are unlucky. This stems from a variety of sources, mostly religious. But the main reason Friday the 13th came be branded as an inauspicious day is that on Friday, October 13th in 1307, King Phillip executed most of the Knights Templar in France because he feared how powerful they had become. This is also referred to as Black Friday.

There's a little Captain in all of us

This is crazy, is it a sign of the future? Brent Celek scored a TD last week and did the Captain Morgan pose in the endzone. He was penalized etc. etc. today it came out that he was part of a guerrilla marketing/advertising plan. Captain Morgan was starting a new ad campaign that would donate money to an NFL Charity for every pose after a Touchdown. They were donating 10k for regular season TD, 20k for Playoffs, and 100k for Superbowl.

This is intriguing that they could potentially run this ad campaign and no one could really do anything about it, as millions of people will watch it. Long story short the NFL got upset about it, and Captain Mo decided they would stop doing it...I think this was an awesomely creative way to advertise and wouldn't be surprised to see companies pursue this avenue in the future.

NFL Shipwrecks Captain Morgan Campaign [Yahoo]

Mr. Awesome did it, I entered the realm of twitter, I'm still trying to figure out how this crap works. Now I know how my mom felt when she joined facebook, this is so foreign to me... @ to refer to fellow "twit". "retweets" to "retweets", I know I 'll catch on, it just seems too simple and archaic, compared to facebook.

How much should I tweet? My life isn't entertaining every hour, just most of them.

I don't really like it, but we will see how I feel about it in a few weeks. I don't know what app to use for my Blackberry either, tried Twitterberry, but it slowed my phone down and drained the hell out of my battery.

Yeah, I was pissed that Mr_Awesome wasn't available.

Karma: Leonardo DiCaprio wins in the end

I can't seem to figure out why Nicholas Cage is in "financial trouble" (which we all know means he only has a few million left).

According to NY Magazine these were a few of his items he has purchased over his career:
  • A jet (I wonder if it's the one from Con-Air)
  • 2 yachts
  • 3 castles (yep castles)
  • A "dozen or so" mansions
  • 50 cars, the most expensive of which was a $495,000 Lamborghini...although I have a hunch he teamed up with Angelina Jolie to steal them.

and the kicker...in 2007 he outbid (meaning more than one person really wanted it) Leonardo DiCaprio for a dinosaur skull. How much you ask? $276,000.

You deserve to be in financial ruin after spending almost 300 grand on a stupid ass dinosaur skull. I guess that's just what you get for trying to out bid Leo. He will always win in the end, well except in The Departed, everyone pretty much dies there.

You can't blame all that on your financial manager, idiot.

Sick Belt Buckle Bro

This video from Funny or Die is great...with Bobby Bottle Service and Peter Paparazzo.

At what point will these guys learn that Ed Hardy is not "sick" anymore (not really sure it ever was)?

My 1st Song

So my wife talked me into starting a blog. she can be found at www.adventuresofmrsawesome.blogspot.com , but please don't follow her or even look at her page. Her blogging skills are far superior to mine. I however do have better ninja skills, thanks for asking.

I'm sure you are all (all 1 of you followers) are asking, "what can we find on your blog Mr. Awesome?" Well, much like every other blog out there I'm not sure, we will see where it goes. I'm sure it will have a lot of finance, sports, and politics, mixed with a sprinkling of things I find humorous in the world.

This will be an adventure (hopefully not THE adventure, that would be boring to blog about my blog), and I am happy you are along for the ride.

Ok, lets be honest, Mrs. Awesome you're the only one reading this, and for that...You're awesome.
